JAZZIZ CD INCLUDES LA MUSIC ACADEMY STUDENT TRACK
by John Wildman

The "Ed.3" compilation CD that accompanies the October issue of Jazziz Magazine, includes the song "Continuum" as performed and by LA Music Academy graduate, Bryan Baker. The song was recorded in July with Baker playing guitar and fellow students, Bjorn Fleuren and Paul Kaiser accompanying on the bass and drums, respectively. Asked how he felt having the song included, Baker replied, "I feel good about it. It's a pretty accurate representation of what I was doing at the time. I think it highlights what my playing is like pretty well." The idea to submit the song came from LA Music Academy instructor, Mike Shapiro. "Brian is so advanced at such an early age," says Shapiro. " His musical years are far ahead of his literal years. He's just such a seasoned writer for his age." While currently focusing on his studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, Baker, 17, still fits in local gigs as well. He adds, "I just got the magazine (and CD) and some people at Berklee have it too. It has actually helped me get into some nice playing situations already."
