Here are some of the organizations the LA Music Academy works
with on a variety of levels.
NASM - National Association of Schools of Music
The LA Music Academy is accredited by the National Association of
Schools of Music. Founded in 1924, NASM is an organization of
schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities. It has
approximately 600 accredited institutional members and
establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate
degrees as well as other credentials.
IAJE - International Association of Jazz Educators
The LA Music Academy is a member of the International Association
for Jazz Education, whose mission is to assure the continued
worldwide growth and development of jazz and jazz education. As a
part of that mission, the Association initiates programs which
nurture and promote the understanding and appreciation of jazz
and its heritage, provide leadership to educators regarding
curricula and performance, assist teachers and practitioners
with information and resources, and take an active part in
organizing clinics, festivals, and symposia at local, regional,
national, and international levels. Founded in the United States
in 1968 as the National Association of Jazz Educators (NAJE),
the organization formally changed its name to the International
Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) in 1989 to more accurately
reflect its membership base and global commitment to jazz
education. Presently, active memberships total upwards of 8,000
teachers, musicians, students, music industry representatives,
and enthusiasts in 35 countries.
NAMM - National Association of Music Merchants
Over the past century, NAMM has proudly represented the industry
that brings the gift of music into people's lives. What started in May
of 1901 as a small grassroots organization of 52 founding Members
has since blossomed into an international association representing
more than 7,700 retailers and manufacturers of musical instruments
and products from 85 countries worldwide. Everything NAMM does is
intended to serve its Members and realize its mission of unifying,
leading, and strengthening the global music products industry and
increasing active participation in music making. Every year,
LA Music Academy students are able to visit the famed NAMM show
in nearby Anaheim.
SEVIS - Student and Exchange Visitor Information Service
The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) is a
government, computerized system that maintains and manages data
about foreign students and exchange visitors during their stay in the
United States. For more than 50 years, U.S. educational institutions
have been required to maintain such information about foreign
students studying at their facilities. In the past, this was a
decentralized, inefficient, and paper-driven system. SEVIS, for
the first time, automates and centralizes this data. SEVIS allows
for real-time access to this information and helps students comply
with the terms of their visas.
